At 5 inches in length, the Pointer 128 is the biggest of the Pointer family and the only Pointer that sports three hooks. For those who are used to throwing the 78 or 100, the 128 looks monstrous, which is exactly why Kelly Jordon likes it so much. “At first, anglers might be intimidated by the size of a 128, but they shouldn’t be.” Jordon says. “Folks would be astounded at the number of 10- to 14- inch fish I’ve caught on such a big bait. Bass are predators; they’re notorious for trying to eat something only half their size.” If a lake has blueback herring in it, the 128 is Jordon’s go to bait. “Over the last five years, blueback herring have become abundant in some of the eastern lakes like Lanier, Clarks Hill and Hartwell,” Jordon says. “That shift in forage base has really changed the dynamics of those lakes. Instead of eating tiny shad, the bass are wolfing these large bluebacks, which get 4 to 6 inches long.
